Welcome to the Dictionary page! The goal of this page is to allow people to explore and learn ASL and LSF vocabulary. There are three options for using the Dictionary page.
First: If you are looking for the sign for a specific English word, you can type that word into the search bar. Clicking on a result brings up two videos showing you the sign for that word, in ASL and LSF. Or if you’re looking for the sign for a specific French word, you can type a French word into the search bar. Clicking the result brings up two videos, LSF and ASL, showing you the sign for that word.
The second option is alphabetical order. Clicking on a letter brings you to a page with all the English words beginning with that letter. Clicking one word from the list brings up two videos: the ASL sign for that word and the corresponding LSF sign.
The third option is handshape. There are two options: 1 handshape and 2 handshapes. Clicking on either will bring you to a page showing pictures of all possible handshapes. Clicking on a specific handshape shows you all the words that use that handshape. Then you can click on a specific word to show you the ASL sign for that word.
